A gallery in the Scottish capital Edinburgh has refused location filming permission for a UK TV drama involving art theft. The production wanted to film at Granton Centre of Art, but National Galleries of Scotland refused permission as they’re apparently worried about inspiring real-life criminals.
X-Men follow-up feature The Wolverine will film on location in Sydney, Australia, from August this year. The story is set in Japan, but the production will be based at Sydney’s Fox Studios, where previous feature X-Men Origins: Wolverine was also partly filmed.
New Bond thriller Skyfall has filmed on location in the Chinese city of Shanghai, quashing rumours that Turkey was to be the only international location outside the UK.
California is taking steps to extend its film and TV location filming incentives, which would make USD100 million available annually through to fiscal year 2020. In the autumn of 2011 the programme was extended only to July 2013, a timeframe that was too short to appeal to many TV shows.
