Eight-part TV miniseries The Kettering Incident will film on location in the Australian state of Tasmania through to December. The drama will be Tasmania’s biggest ever production and the highest-profile local shoot since Willem Dafoe’s The Hunter in 2012.
Upcoming TV miniseries ANZAC Girls has filmed entirely on location in and around Adelaide in South Australia for a story set during the Gallipoli campaign of World War I. The drama focuses on the New Zealand and Australian nurses who served at Gallipoli and elsewhere on the Western Front.
New US series The Quest filmed on location in Austria to find its fantasy setting. The show is a hybrid of fantasy role-play and ‘reality’ drama, and shot mostly at Burg Kreuzenstein, a castle near Vienna.
Historical drama miniseries The Secret River is to film on location in Victoria and New South Wales in Australia. Based on the award-winning novel by Kate Grenville, the drama follows the exploits of some of the first European colonists in New South Wales in the early 19th Century.
New US fairy tale series Galavant will film at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol in the west of England this August. The series comes as Angelina Jolie's UK-filmed Maleficent has become a hit in cinemas, while a raft of upcoming UK-shot productions are also inspired by fairy tales.
A new episode of US sitcom Modern Family that spent two weeks filming in Australia has been a ratings hit and could help boost film tourism in the country. The comedy follows the show’s extended family as they holiday in Sydney and on the Great Barrier Reef.
The Australia Broadcasting Corporation’s ABC International arm has made a major deal with the Shanghai Media Group to make its content available in China. Part of the agreement includes the Australian company having a Shanghai base to set up projects such as international co-productions.
Actor and producer Kevin Spacey has met with lawmakers in Maryland in a bid to extend the state’s filming incentive programme. Spacey stars in the Netflix political drama House of Cards, which is asking for greater financial support to film a third season in Baltimore.
