Italy’s international production profile has been given a lift since its filming incentives were boosted last year. Major projects currently shooting include a big-budget remake of historical epic Ben-Hur, which is the first international movie in years to shoot entirely in Italy.
Curious Mumbai chose to film on location in Austria for a new commercial for electrical appliance the Milton Electron Tiffin. Set in a mountainous part of India, the spot features a group of soldiers whose spirits are raised when they receive a heated care package.
A remake of the historical epic Ben-Hur has started filming on location at Cinecitta Studios in Rome. Charlton Heston starred in the iconic 1959 version of the story, which also shot at Cinecitta Studios.
Disney filmed its new musical fairytale Into The Woods on location in southern England and also built a specially-designed forest set at Shepperton Studios. The story blends several popular fairytales in an adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s theatre musical.
New James Bond movie Spectre is filming on location in Austria, continuing a shoot that’s scheduled to span seven months and at least five different countries. The new film’s title was announced at Pinewood Studios in December.
Pinewood Studios has been granted approval by a local authority for the first phase of its major new development plan. Initial work on the Pinewood Studios Development Framework will start in early 2015.
The BBC has returned to Morocco to film scenes for the second series of its historical family adventure series Atlantis. As with the first series, production was based in a retrofitted studio in Chepstow in Wales, but the team also filmed in and around Morocco’s Atlas Mountains.
The new James Bond movie, officially named today by director Sam Mendes as Spectre, will film on location in London, Morocco, Rome, Mexico City and the Alps. Shooting will last seven months and will start next week from its Pinewood Studios base.
