After officially being announced at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, Thailand’s cash rebate incentive is now accessible to the public. Feature films and television shows shooting in Thailand from January 2017 onwards can now receive a 20% cash rebate on qualifying expenditures.
The Incentive Evaluation Commission has filed a report, advising lawmakers to allow Oklahoma’s film incentive to sunset in 2024. While the report itself isn’t legally binding, it could influence lawmakers to cease funding for the incentive when the sunset date arrives.
The first feature film by Director/Actor Anthony Lucero, The Clown is currently being shot in Tbilisi, Georgia. Production began on August 8th and will run until March 6th 2017, spending a total of close to GEL2 million in the country and taking advantage of its newly established cash rebate.
Terry Gilliam’s long awaited film, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote has now entered into production with shoots taking place in Lisbon and Tomar. Scenes will also be filmed in Castilla-La Mancha and the Canary Islands.
The latest film by Director Simon West (Wild Card, The Expendables 2) will finish production after scenes to be shot in Santiago and Valparaiso have been completed. Entitled Salty, Antonio Banderas will portray the retired rock star Turk Henry whose world is turned upside down when he gets kidnapped during a holiday in Thailand.
Kansas City’s tax rebate has lured production on the upcoming film feature, All Creatures Here Below. Written by David Dastmalchian (Ant-Man) who is himself a Kansas City native, All Creatures will receive a rebate of USD60,000 after an estimated expenditure of USD800,000 was calculated.
