New TV miniseries The Dovekeepers is set to film on location in Malta, doubling the Mediterranean island for ancient Israel. Based on a popular novel, the drama will tell the story of the experiences of four women during the Roman Siege of Masada in 70 AD.
Disney will film in a retrofitted warehouse space near Boston, Massachusetts, for its true-life rescue drama The Finest Hours. Set in 1952, the film will recount the tale of a dramatic Coast Guard rescue operation that was launched when oil tankers collided off Cape Cod.
Part of the Casablanca-Agadir highway has been closed by Morocco’s National Highway Company to accommodate filming for Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible 5. The closure will last until the end of next week and the production is also expected to shoot elsewhere in the country.

An eye-catching new commercial from BMW has caused a stir because of its unusual filming location. Ultimate Racetrack promotes the BMW M4 by showing the car skidding around a racetrack. Midway through the spot, the racetrack is ‘revealed’ to be the deck of an aircraft carrier.
Cable channel HBO will film part of the fifth season of Game of Thrones on location in the Seville region of southern Spain. The show has been based in Northern Ireland throughout its four-season run, with additional location filming focussing on Iceland and Croatia.
Filmmaker Michael Bay helped secure two active-duty US Navy destroyers for the filming of miniseries The Last Ship. Bay’s first TV production as a producer focuses on a Navy crew struggling to find a cure to a deadly virus that has wiped out most of the world’s population.
