After receiving three Academy Awards and three Golden Globes, The Revenant’s incredibly successful awards period continued this weekend at the Location Managers Guild International Awards, taking home the award for Outstanding Locations in a Period Film. Portions of the film were shot on location in Alberta, Canada but the production later moved to Tierra del Fuego in search of more snow.

Serbia introduces new cash rebate for film, TV and commercials

Serbia has introduced a brand new film incentive programme which will cover commercials alongside film and television productions, making it the first country in Eastern Europe to offer an official incentive for commercials. The country now offers a 20% cash rebate for productions filming on location, with this year’s deadline being set for September 30th.

The continuation of BBC’s The Hollow Crown series entitled, The Hollow Crown: The War of the Roses was filmed on location in multiple areas throughout the UK. The production travelled to Wells Cathedral (Somerset), Ashridge Estate (Hertfordshire), Haddon Hall (Bakewell), Gloucester Cathedral (Gloucester), Berkeley Castle (Berkeley), The Great Hall (Winchester) and Alnwick Castle (Northumberland).

Mumbai based Production Company, Joshua Tree Films has announced its very own short film competition entitled The Mssing Plot. Joshua Tree will provide all contestants with the same pre-filmed opening scene as filmmakers, both amateur and professional will be expected to make their own short film from that piece, regardless of what genre they choose.
