British stars Rachel Weisz and Michael Fassbender are filming period drama The Light Between Oceans in Stanley in the Australian island state Tasmania. Willem Dafoe’s atmospheric drama The Hunter has been among the highest-profile features to shoot in Tasmania in recent years.

New Zealand has marked 100 days to the Cricket World Cup by staging a short game on Auckland Harbour Bridge. Australia and New Zealand are joint hosts of the competition in February and March next year, and players from both countries filmed the Auckland spot.

Supernatural TV series Grimm is filming its fourth season in the show’s established home in Portland, Oregon. The production team was attracted partly by Portland’s forest locations that are appropriate for the story’s fairy tale origins, and also by Oregon’s filming incentives.
Work has started on the Calgary Film Centre studio in Alberta, Canada, with a groundbreaking ceremony. The USD 20 million complex will eventually offer more than 80,000 sq ft of production facilities and could help attract more shoots on the scale of the recent Fargo miniseries.
