Authorities in Calgary, Alberta, have confirmed the site for the province’s first purpose-built film studio. The Calgary Film Centre will be built in the east of the city and could help Alberta attract more high-profile productions like crime series Fargo and recent period drama Klondike.

Fresco Film Services has joined The Location Guide as a partner for our Soiree at the Cannes Lions Festival. Fresco dates back to 1972 and became Fresco Film Services in 2006, working primarily in commercials and features in Spain and Portugal.
Location filming in New York in the first five months of the year has already surpassed production levels for the whole of 2013. Figures from Empire State Development show that New York has already hosted 23 TV pilot shoots, the same figure for the whole of last year.
The Location Guide will be running The Location Beach Lounge at Plage Goeland during Cannes Lions from 16-20 June. Cannes Lions is the world’s premier advertising festival and brings together commercial production professionals from around the world.
Applications for California’s filming incentive support have increased by more than 30% on last year’s figure. According to the California Film Commission, nearly 500 productions applied for support on the first day of the application period, but only 23 have been initially approved.
