Leavesden Studios bought by Warner Bros.
Warner Brothers is to buy Leavesden Studios in the UK for UKP100 million. The facility will be substantially upgraded and a Harry Potter museum will be opened as well.
Barry Meyer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Warner Brothers, said: “Our purchase of Warner Brothers Studios, Leavesden and our multi-million pound investment in creating a state-of-the-art, permanent UK film production base further demonstrates our long-term commitment to, and confidence in, the skills and creativity of the UK film industry.”
Leavesden Studios has been under lease to Warner Brothers since 2000. All the Harry Potter films have been based there and over the past ten years it has drawn production budgets totalling nearly UKP2 billion.
