Georgia

Georgia has become one of the main production hubs in the US, partly through its base 20% filming incentive that expands to 30% with the inclusion of the state’s peach logo in a production’s credits, and its outstanding studio infrastructure.

Pinewood Atlanta Studios is becoming a long-term favourite for Marvel, as the host of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Georgia’s other studio facilities include EUE/Screen Gems Studios Atlanta and Atlanta Film Studios.

The new Moon River Studios, claiming to be the the largest studio project in the US, will also help elevate the state's production profile. Hit TV zombie drama The Walking Dead has been based in Georgia for the past six years.

Netflix's sleeper-hit, Stranger Things doubled areas in Georgia for Indiana, and was recently transformed into a prohibition-era United States in Ben Affleck's Live by Night.

Climate

Georgia’s climate tends to be warm and pleasant, with hot humid summers peaking at around 29C, while winter temperatures can fall to about 4C. Coastal regions of the state tend to get warmer weather than in the north.

Georgia gets about 60 inches of rainfall every year, with March being the wettest month and thunderstorms affecting the state about 60 days of the year. Mild snowfall is sometimes experienced in the northern part of the state where the ground is higher and more mountainous. The south-west areas are susceptible to tropical storms owing to their coastal regions.

Entry requirements
The USA obviously has a massive industry with an abundance of filming equipment on hand. However,
if you are planning on bringing equipment in at one of its many points of entry, the ATA carnet system would be the best approach. It is an internationally-recognised customs document that allows goods to move into foreign markets free of duty and tax.
