Mississippi

Positioned in the southern United States, Mississippi has a mild, four-season climate and offers filmmakers hugely diverse landscapes, much of which remains under-used on-screen. Producers and Location Managers have their pick of agricultural scenery along the Mississippi Delta, the hills of Natchez Trace and white-sand beaches on the Gulf of Mexico.

The state’s filmmaking appeal has been given a recent boost with the opening of the purpose-built 31-acre Mississippi Film Studios at Canton, which offers a 36,000 square-foot sound stage as one of its main resources. Combined with the state's cash rebate film incentive of up to 30% these facilities are a bold statement of Mississippi’s future plans to become a production hub.

Mississippi offers both a rich history and a strong future vision, which can only be strengthened by the success of period drama The Help. With a profile sure to rise in the coming years, the state is certainly one to watch as the balance of production power continues to shift throughout the US.
