Manchester signs Production Liaison Charter after hosting Captain America

Greater Manchester in northern England has committed support to filming projects by signing up to the UK’s Production Liaison Charter. It means Greater Manchester is now officially a film-friendly city and will offer high-quality production support, as well as good infrastructure.

Vicky Rosin is Deputy Chief Executive (Neighbourhoods) at Manchester City Council: “We have great locations, crew and production and facilities companies. It’s all here and filming brings in significant economic value, as well as lifting the county’s profile.

Not every US blockbuster, like Captain America, will film here, but more could. The Charter will be a way of underlining to the TV and film industry that we understand the value of their contribution.

Nearly a dozen different councils in the Greater Manchester region have signed the Charter and will have a dedicated employee to field location filming inquiries when they come in. Creative England, the new organisation take supports the creative industries outside London, hosted the Charter signing.
