Andy Serkis suggests further delay for Hobbit shoot

Shooting for The Hobbit appears to have been further delayed, as Lord of the Rings actor Andy Serkis has told Digital Spy shooting could start towards the end of the year.

Ian McKellen said recently on his website that the shoot was due to begin in New Zealand in June, but this was changed to July within just a few hours. His website now highlights that the shoot will begin “at a time to be announced”.

According to popular fan site TheOneRing.net, the continuing delay is due to debt problems affecting MGM, which is contracted to eventually distribute the films.
