David Fincher to shoot Girl with Dragon Tattoo remake in Stockholm

The English-language remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will be filmed in and around Stockholm from next month. Directed by David Fincher, it will star relative newcomer Rooney Mara in the title role.

Ingrid Rudefors, Film Commissioner at the Stockholm Film Commission, said: “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will be filming in Greater Stockholm. We don’t have any incentives but David Fincher wants to stay close to the book. As a well known director he was able to convince the studio that Sweden is the place to go. We’re very excited.”

Fincher’s latest film, The Social Network, opens in cinemas in the next few months. It was filmed in locations including Boston and Andover, Massachusetts, as well as at John Hopkins University in Maryland and in Glendale, California.
