New Kathryn Bigelow project will not get support of Paraguay and Argentina
Kathryn Bigelow has run into a potential problem during the pre-production of her new film. The project has the working title Triple Frontiers and the story is to be set in the region of South America where the borders of Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina meet.
However, as the story will be exploring the region’s reputation for being a hive of organised criminal activity, Paraguay and Argentina have said the film will not receive their support. Authorities in the region are concerned about the potential negative impact the film could have on tourism.
Enrique Meyer, Argentina’s Tourism Minister, told Agence France-Presse: “We all agreed that we were deeply indignant when we discovered that this project seeks to negatively portray this region shared by three South American countries.”
