Transportation strike averted in LA
A transportation strike threatened in Los Angeles by Teamsters over pay has been averted with a last-minute deal. A strike would have threatened location filming in Los Angeles as Teamsters are involved with transporting equipment and trailers to and from filming sites.
The Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers (AMPTP) said: “The newly ratified agreement provides solid increases in wages, benefits and work opportunities for members of the Hollywood Teamsters, while recognising the economic realities that continue to challenge the industry.”
The Teamsters have accepted the 2% pay rise put forward by the AMPTP – rather than the 3% figure they were calling for – but have received several enhancements to issues like medical tests, out-of-Los Angeles productions and meals.
