China Film Studio uses Lightcraft Technology for virtual production stage
China Film Studio has opened China Film Virtual Stage (CFVS) in the Huairou District of Beijing. The new facility is the first of its kind in China and comprises a green screen environment and virtual set filming services using Previzion systems provided by Lightcraft Technology of California.
Filmmakers will be able to see pre-visualisations of both live-action and computer-generated elements of their production in real-time as they film, rather than waiting for post-production.
“China Film Studio has a very aggressive agenda to bring Chinese film up to the best international standards,” comments Eliot Mack, Lightcraft’s founder and system architect: “For sophisticated visual effects segments that rely heavily on green screen technology, Previzion is the perfect tool for China Film Studio."

“They can use the full advantage of our precision camera tracking, sophisticated rendering and high quality keying, all in real-time,” Mack adds.
Hollywood’s interest in the Chinese production industry is on the increase. James Cameron has made his specialist 3D cameras available in the country, while Rian Johnson’s time travel thriller Looper and Marvel’s Iron Man 3 filmed partly on location in China to gain co-production status.
