Dawn of the Planet of the Apes films on location in Louisiana

Sci-fi sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will film partly on location in Louisiana. The movie will double the southern state for San Francisco as it takes advantage of a filming incentive worth a base rate of 30%.

"New Orleans also has an incredible base of talent in terms of crew and film infrastructure,” Publicist Gregg Brilliant told local news outlet WWL: “It's created a base of educated, knowledgeable, hard-working crew members, so it's very attractive to make movies in New Orleans for that reason."

“Another reason we like New Orleans," he added, "is because the film commission and the mayor have been so accommodating in street closures and allowing us use of a variety of locations that are just fantastic for the movie in terms of the amount and the type of space available to us.”

The film is the follow-up to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which successfully rebooted the classic Apes franchise first begun in the late 60s with Charlton Heston. Modern performance-capture techniques are being used to create the intelligent apes.
