Maltese Producer’s Creative Partnership expands operations to South Africa

The Malta-based Producer’s Creative Partnership (PCP) has expanded its operations to South Africa through an agreement with Cape Town’s Film Afrika. From here, PCP plans to increase co-productions between Europe and South Africa through existing treaties.

“The attractiveness of South Africa as a cost-efficient destination,” comments PCP’s founding producer Malcolm Scerri-Ferrante, “will enable more European films with challenging budgets to be made when otherwise they would be difficult to realise.”

“These are exciting times for South Africa as more and more producers want to film here,” adds David Wicht, Executive Producer and owner of Film Afrika: “We offer world-class skills across all departments, English as a first language, great cost-efficiency, a personalised and hands-on approach, and a focus on the creation of unbeatable production values on-screen.”

South Africa is a global production hub and its feature profile has risen recently with shoots like Chronicle, Safe House and Dredd. In mid-2012 the country expanded its location filming incentive programme by increasing its rebate and offering cash back on post-production work.
