Production Guild of Great Britain signs agreements with US and Italy

Agreements have been signed between the Production Guild of Great Britain and its counterparts in the US and Italy to foster greater co-operation between the three regions. The agreements should lead to a stronger exchange of ideas in film and TV.

The Production Guild of Great Britain (PGGB) will work with the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and the Producers Guild of Italy to share industry information and also to send delegations to each country.

“These agreements mark the first step towards establishing closer working relationships between our respective guilds to the mutual benefit of our work in supporting production personnel,” said Alison Small, head of the PGGB.

“International partnerships underpin a huge amount of film and television production and are very much a part of the day-to-day business so it makes sense to explore opportunities to share ideas and experience.”

Added Vance Van Petten, head of the PGA: “Today, storytellers are creating content for a global audience, and frequently producing that content on a global scale. International partnerships like these not only lay the groundwork for information exchange and new production opportunities, but facilitate creative insights into the shared nature of story across cultures and marketplaces.”

The PGGB held its annual awards ceremony in September. Veteran Location Manager Sue Quinn was among the award-winners and was presented with the Panavision Project Management Award. Quinn negotiated the closure of Trafalgar Square for key scenes in Tom Cruise’s sci-fi drama Edge of Tomorrow, a production that was based on location in London.
