BBC films TV drama Frankie at Bristol’s Bottle Yard production facility

The BBC’s new TV nursing drama Frankie filmed on location in Bristol in south-west England, using filming facilities at The Bottle Yard. A former winery and bottling plant, The Bottle Yard has been converted into a facility that offers 300,000 square feet of production space.

“It’s been brilliant to be part of a building where there were teams making other productions as well as us,” comments Producer Erika Hossington: “To feel like you are part of a like-minded community is really important and we all felt like we were in a proper production hub.”

“Meeting old faces from the industry again is always nice, but having the opportunity to introduce The Bottle Yard to a new producer is a big bonus,” adds The Bottle Yard’s Site Manager Fiona Francombe: “Their use of local locations in the South Bristol area proves the benefit of having a facility like this for the local community and economy.”

Bristol has been used in the past year for British television productions including The Fear, Sherlock and Doctor Who, which is based in nearby Cardiff.
