Disney children’s drama The Chronicles of Evermoor to film near Liverpool
Disney will film a full season of children’s drama The Chronicles of Evermoor near Liverpool and Warrington in northern England. Lime Pictures will produce the show, which will extend the format from the four-part miniseries shot last year at Arley Hall in Cheshire.
The drama follows an American teenager who moves to the UK where she starts a new life at the creepy Evermoor Manor. Exteriors will again be filmed at Arley Hall.
“The Evermoor Chronicles is our biggest and most successful home-grown live-action production, and provides the perfect platform to establish and build local UK Disney stars,” said David Levine, vice-president of programming, production and development for Disney Channels EMEA and head of Disney Channels UK & Ireland.
“We are thrilled to be working with Disney on a full series of The Evermoor Chronicles," commented Claire Poyser, Lime Pictures’ Joint Managing Director: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to continue to delight audiences with the brilliant stories and superb production values that Lime Pictures is renowned for.”
The production is likely to benefit from the UK’s new Children’s Television Tax Relief, which the Chancellor George Osborne announced yesterday as part of his pre-election Budget.
Disney has had a strong presence in the UK for several years, with its subsidiaries Marvel and Lucasfilm shooting superhero movies and the next Star Wars films in London. Fairytale series Galavant, produced by Disney-owned ABC Studios, filmed on location in South Wales and south-west England, from a base at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol.
The UK’s TV tax credit has made UK filming much more cost-effective, with high-profile international shoots also including 24: Live Another Day and Elementary.
