London and Paris prepare for TV co-production exchange project
Television producers in London and Paris will take part in an exchange project later this month to encourage more TV co-productions and collaborations between the two cities. The week-long event involves Film London and the Ile de France Film Commission in Paris.
Dubbed A Tale Of Two Cities after the famous Dickens novel, the event is scheduled for 16-21 November and will involve six UK TV producers and six of their French counterparts. Meetings will take place in both London and Paris, and also on the Eurostar, which is a sponsor of the event.
“The initiative represents a snapshot of Film London’s work to boost business, proactively create positive opportunities for our screen industries and sell the capital as a first-class city in which to do business. I hope to see this trip result in some exciting new co-productions,” said Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London and the British Film Commission.
Added Olivier-René Veillon, CEO of Ile de France Film Commission: “The French public love British series and after the success of [supernatural TV drama] The Returned (above) on Channel 4 the British public is ready for new discoveries.”
Meetings will start in Paris on 16 November and will move to London two days later, where there will be a seminar on the UK’s TV tax credit, as well as a locations tour of the capital.
The UK’s TV tax credit was launched last year and has already helped attract major international shoots like 24: Live Another Day, which shot mostly in London, and the Disney series Galavant, based in Bristol.
