New BBC drama Atlantis sets up studio space near Chepstow in Wales

The BBC’s new drama series Atlantis is setting up studio space in a former supermarket storage building near Chepstow in Wales. Doctor Who and long-running medical drama Casualty are based at the BBC’s Roath Lock studio facility in nearby Cardiff.

Tom Gibbons is with Bristol-based property consultancy TG Commercial and spoke to South Wales Argus: “Not only is this a very exciting venture but it will also bring tremendous investment and employment opportunities to the area, with up to 140 staff servicing the facility.”

The warehouse offers 155,000 square feet of floor space and will become a TV studio for the 13-part Atlantis story that’s set in the ancient mythic civilisation. Location filming will take place in Morocco in the coming months and the show will be launched by the BBC in autumn 2013.
