Warp Films on location in Kent for gun spree TV miniseries Southcliffe

Warp Films shot on location in the market town of Faversham in Kent, south-east England, for TV drama Southcliffe. The miniseries follows a journalist who returns to his hometown in the aftermath of a deadly mass shooting to try and make sense of the killings.

“Southcliffe is a fictional market town inhabited by fictional characters, but with similarities to many actual people and places in Britain today,” said writer Tony Grisoni: “Invisible people, anonymous places. Rather than analyse or moralise about our characters’ actions, we share in them. Southcliffe is an anthem to ordinary people’s ability to reinvent themselves in the face of ultimate darkness.”

Mayor of Faversham David Simmons added: “We hoped that the filming would be of economic benefit to the town. The crew stayed locally and people let them use their houses.”

Southcliffe’s story and themes are inspired by several mass shootings that have taken place in the UK over the past 25 years. The four-part miniseries is screening on Channel 4 in the UK.
