Northwest Territories, Canada
Boasting spectacular scenery near the top of the world, the Northwest Territories are situated in north-west Canada, with Yukon to the west and Nunavut to the east. Although dominated by arctic tundra, the region also offers pristine lakes, forests, mountains and rivers.
In the summer months the province is dubbed Land of the Midnight Sun, as the sun doesn’t fall below the horizon. The endless sunlight and low rainfall creates great filming conditions that are a major pull for filmmakers from around the world. When the sun finally does set in August, the spectacular northern lights are visible for around nine months.
There are six flights a day from the provincial capital of Yellowknife to Edmonton or Calgary and flights from Ottawa and Ontario come in and out a few times a week. Yellowknife connects directly with Vancouver throughout the winter.
