Success of Hangover 2 boosts interest in Thailand location filming
Director Todd Phillips took The Hangover 2 to Thailand in 2010 in a bid to perform a one-up on his previous Vegas-based adventure. The Thai Government claims it has had a big impact and reports that around 80 more international projects filmed in the country in 2010 than in 2009.
Wansiri Morakul, Director of the Thailand Film Office, a unit of the Department of Tourism, said: “Hangover 2 has helped to promote Thailand and after its success several foreign filmmakers are more confident about shooting their movies here. This is proof that Thailand is still safe for film productions.”

Reports of an upcoming Thai filming incentive have been circulating for nearly a year now, but nothing has yet materialised. The Hangover 2 is by far the highest-profile project to have shot in the country in recent years.
