The Bourne Legacy arrives in Manila for Philippines location filming
Filming has begun in Manila in the Philippines this week for The Bourne Legacy. It’s the fourth entry in Universal’s lucrative spy series that began back in 2002 with The Bourne Identity. Legacy has filmed mainly in Canada so far and it’s thought it will spend about five weeks in the Philippines.
This will generate great interest in our country since [it demonstrates] we can provide the facilities for such big productions.
Film Development Council of the Philippines
The Film Development Council of the Philippines commented: “This will generate great interest in our country since [it demonstrates] we can provide the facilities for such big productions. It is also a melting pot culture where locations can be depicted as Asian, Hispanic or pre-war American.”
No filming incentives are available in the Philippines, but production services are cheaper than in other parts of the world. It also gives the Bourne franchise a chance to showcase a lesser-seen part of the world, as the series’ first three films shot mainly in Europe.
