The Location Guide anticipates Cannes Lions 2012

The Location Guide will be at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity from June 17th and we’re looking forward to meeting up with friends old and new. It also offers great chances both to see the year’s most acclaimed work and to gauge new talent.

We’ll be hosting a Soirée on the Majestic Pier during the festival. This is in partnership with Fresco Film, Pure Scandinavia, Orange Films, Finland Film Commission, the Advertising Producers Association and Sevilla Film Office.

Jean-Frédéric Garcia is Publishing Director at The Location Guide: “Cannes Lions is always a highlight of the year for us as it’s a great opportunity to network, re-connect with old friends and make new contacts throughout the global advertising industry. We also keep a close eye on the most acclaimed work on display and anticipate its continued impact on the commercials world.”

This year the festival has had well over 34,000 entries from nearly 90 different countries, an increase of nearly 20% on last year’s event that’s required the assistance of nearly 300 judges. One major award recipient already announced is Dan Wieden, Co-Founder and Global Executive Creative Director of Wieden+Kennedy, who will be presented with the Lion of St Mark.

Philip Thomas is the Festival Chief Executive: “I am sure that the winners at Cannes Lions will inspire and excite the industry, showing what is possible in creative brand communications.”

In addition to our own Soirée, there will be six days of fringe events involving presentations and seminars delivered by production companies and agencies from around the world.

We’ll see you in Cannes!
