The Three Musketeers: Bavarian scenery as a location filming star

International co-production The Three Musketeers, directed by Paul WS Anderson, has opened in cinemas around the world. Two thirds of the 3D adaptation, were shot on original locations in Bavaria: Bamberg, Würzburg, Pommersfelden, Burghausen, Herrenchiemsee, Schleißheim and Munich.

Anja Metzger is Film Commissioner at FFF (Film Fernseh Fonds Bayern): “The organisation of the film locations was one of the biggest challenges for the Bavarian Film Commission. Because of the excellent co-operation with our partners at the Location Network Bavaria, necessary bridges could have been built with municipalities and cities and a smooth production flow of the movie shoot was possible for the international crew. Special thanks go to Constantin Film Production for their sensitive and excellent handling with the film locations.”

It is the most complex on-location production which has taken place in Bavaria so far. Historical locations, which are usually shut for movie shoots, were now available for the film production due to the exemplary teamwork of the Film Commission Bavaria, the Location Network Bavaria and the Bavarian Administration of State-Owned Palaces, Gardens and Lakes.
