Refugee Relief Night raises more than £30,000
The UK’s advertising industry has raised more than GBP 30,000 in a special event to help Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders and their work with refugees. A night of fundraising saw the industry join forces with the Advertising Producers Association (APA).
The event was a response to the biggest global refugee crisis the world has seen since the Second World War, and the money will go towards helping the estimated 60 million people currently fleeing conflict and persecution.
Dozens of gifts were awarded in a charity auction over the course of the night, including delegate passes to next year’s Cannes Lions festival, stays at top London hotels and a lunch with Sir John Hegarty, Worldwide Creative Director and Founder of Bartle Bogle Hegarty.
“It’s fantastic to have been involved with an event that raised more than GBP 30,000 for such a great cause,” said Clara Lé, Commercial Director at The Location Guide.
“Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders needs our assistance now more than ever to rise to the challenge of helping refugees around the world. The advertising industry has come out in force to show its support and generosity.”
Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders set up hospitals in refugee camps, helps women give birth safely, vaccinate children to prevent epidemics and provide access to safe drinking water. They also conduct search and rescue work to save the lives of migrants and refugees attempting to cross the Mediterranean.
