TV show reboot Dallas returns to film on location in Texas

Dallas, Texas, is set for a promotional shot in the arm in 2012 when the eponymous soap gets a reboot. It’s the latest classic TV show to be rejuvenated in the US, and Larry Hagman is even set to return to his iconic role of Texas oilman JR Ewing. Location filming started in October.

We’re trying to give the show a real sense of place and Dallas has a real personality. It's a city that does things in a big way.

John Patterson, Location Manager

John Patterson is the show’s Location Manager and spoke to Associated Press: “We’re trying to give the show a real sense of place and Dallas has a real personality. It's a city that does things in a big way. That's part of JR and part of what we try to give the show - a sense of the city, which is big, very well done, shiny, new and looking toward the future.”

US Network TNT has ordered ten episodes of the show. Producers will be hoping it doesn’t suffer the same fate as recent reboots like Charlie's Angels and The Bionic Woman, which were both cancelled after failing to find audiences.
