UK Government launches consultation on TV location filming incentives

A formal consultation has been launched by the UK Government on the TV filming incentives promised back in March this year. Production companies are being invited to offer their views on the tax relief that will be designed to keep high-end TV shows like Downton Abbey filming in the UK.

The incentive will likely to be modelled on the 25% tax credit that’s already available in the UK for feature production. Animation and videogame projects will benefit from the new tax relief, alongside high-end TV productions.

Launching a new filming incentive in the summer of 2013 is intended to help the UK compete with the likes of Ireland, South Africa and Eastern Europe.
