Warner Brothers officially opens Leavesden Studio near London

Warner Brothers has officially opened its Leavesden Studio facility near London in the UK. The studio bought the site in 2010 and has since spent GBP100 million revamping the nine separate sound stages and the 100-acre back-lot.

Leavesden offers 250,000 square feet of studio space in total, with the stages ranging in size from 10,000 to 36,000 square feet. There’s also a heated underwater filming tank, which is one of the largest of its sort in Europe.

Josh Berger is President and Managing Director of Warner Bros for the UK, Ireland and Spain: “Alongside a growing UK film, TV and games production slate, the opening of Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden clearly demonstrates the company’s commitment to the UK and underlines our belief in the world-class talent that resides on these shores.”

Dan Dark is Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden: “Drawing on Warner Bros.’ unparalleled studio-operating experience, we have spent the last 18 months building a state-of-the-art facility that will provide clients with a highly functional and contemporary environment within which to film.”

Leavesden has been used for feature projects ranging from Sherlock Holmes through to Wrath of the Titans and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was also home to all the Harry Potter films and now hosts a permanent walking tour of sets from the franchise.
