Ryan Reynolds’ new comic book movie Deadpool will film partly on location on the Georgia Viaduct, a major twinned bridge in central Vancouver. The movie is a solo outing for the comic book hero Reynolds first played as a supporting character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Five studios in the US state of Georgia have come together to focus on training the regional film crew pool. The Georgia Studio & Infrastructure Alliance will also act as an advocacy group for local production. Georgia’s recent productions have included Selma and Ant-Man.
The Kenya Film Commission is partnering with the French embassy in Kenya to launch the Kalasha International Film & TV Festival & Market in October. Taking place in Nairobi, the festival will focus on films and TV shows that showcase East African stories.
Disney will film a full season of children’s drama The Chronicles of Evermoor near Liverpool and Warrington in northern England. Lime Pictures will produce the show, which will extend the format from the four-part miniseries shot last year at Arley Hall in Cheshire.
Abu Dhabi is promoting the new Fast & Furious movie and the city’s direct Etihad Airways flight route to Los Angeles with a plane carrying the action franchise’s branding. Furious 7 spent two weeks in Abu Dhabi last year shooting key sequences.
Further enhancements to the UK’s filming incentives have been announced by the Chancellor George Osborne. The TV tax credit that’s attracted shoots like 24: Live Another Day and Veep is now accessible with a lower spend and a dedicated children’s TV tax credit has been launched.
Italy’s international production profile has been given a lift since its filming incentives were boosted last year. Major projects currently shooting include a big-budget remake of historical epic Ben-Hur, which is the first international movie in years to shoot entirely in Italy.
