Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is out now in cinemas and filmed mostly in the UK, despite a plot that jumps over much of mainland Europe. Over in North America the US state of Ohio is campaigning for stronger filming incentives, while the Canadian province of Alberta has streamlined what it already offers.

In the week marking the first anniversary of our new website being launched, the focus is once again on filming incentives in the US, while specific geographic needs have resulted in the new Mad Max sequel relocating from Australia. In the UK new plans are underway to continue boosting location filming in London around the Olympics.

Opening beckons for new Santa Fe film studio

A new studio facility in New Mexico is just a few weeks from opening, according to the Associated Press. Santa Fe Studios will offer two 60-foot sound stages, as well as terraced dressing rooms and production offices. There’s capacity for at least nine more sound stages, should there be enough demand.
