Lone Scherfig’s wartime drama, Their Finest, transformed the streets of Bloomsbury into 1940’s Britain for two days of filming. The shoot in Bedford Square took place in late 2015, with 150 cast and crew present including the film’s main stars, Gemma Arterton and Bill Nighy.
The number of feature films shot on location in Los Angeles fell by nearly a third in 2017’s first quarter, according to a new report from FilmL.A., Inc. A 36.3% drop was calculated in comparison to the same period in 2016 which incurred 1,145 shoot days, superior to this quarter’s 729 days.
A newly commissioned eight-part drama from ITV, entitled The Widow, will be shot on location in Wales, Africa and the Netherlands. The series is being produced by Two Brothers Pictures (The Missing - pictured) and will be penned by Harry and Jack Williams.
Georgia’s film incentive could expand as House Bill 199, which seeks to lower the minimum spend for post-production work, was passed in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. The bill has now been submitted for Governor Nathan Deal’s approval.
Requiem, a new series commissioned by the BBC and co-produced by New Pictures and Netflix, has begun filming in the Welsh city of Newport. Funding has been provided by The Welsh Government, ensuring that the project stays and hires locally.
APU Productions were on hand during filming on the latest season of Netflix’s cooking series, Chef’s Table, servicing the project’s stay in Peru. The show travelled to Peru to investigate Virgilio Martínez Véliz’s world renowned restaurant, Central.
The next series of Netflix’s anthology show, Black Mirror, will feature scenes shot on location in Iceland. Production company Truenorth will be handling the shoot, having now obtained filming permits from the Environment Agency of Iceland.
