The 10% uplift on New York State’s film incentive programme has now been extended to cover the counties of Dutchess and Ulster. The uplift was originally introduced in 2015 as a method of inspiring filmmakers to shoot elsewhere in the state and not just in New York City.
Netflix’s latest high-budget period drama, The Crown was shot in a number of UK locations including London, Ely, Aberdeenshire, Guildford and Hertfordshire before travelling to shoot in Cape Town, South Africa. The show focuses on the life of the current ruling monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, from her early days of succession all the way to the present.

A feature film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, Gerald’s Game is now being filmed on location in Mobile, Alabama. The project will debut as an original film on Netflix’s streaming service, with the Santa Monica based Intrepid Pictures on-board to produce.

The third season of Charlie Brooker’s satirical anthology series Black Mirror has been shot on location throughout London, doubling the British capital for California. While shooting the first episode of the season, the Electrowerkz nightclub in Islington was used to depict a Californian beach town in the height of the 1980s.
Netflix’s hit sci-fi series, Stranger Things was shot almost entirely on location within the state of Georgia, with portions also filmed at Screen Gems Studios in Atlanta. The state was used as a cheat for Indiana, which is currently without a film incentive programme.
