The UK has been given approval by the European Union (EU) to boost its filming incentive programme. Productions will now get a 25% tax credit on all their eligible UK spending, in a move that could help attract more shoots on the scale of Star Wars and 24: Live Another Day.
London, Morocco and Vienna were chosen as the main filming locations for Tom Cruise’s action sequel Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. The movie follows the Impossible Mission Force as they track sinister organisation The Syndicate across the world.
Twenty-one international films dominated UK production spending in the first half of this year, according to a report from the British Film Institute (BFI). Between them the 21 movies spent just under GBP 520 million of a total figure of GBP 594 million.

Tom Cruise is filming Mena on location in Georgia. The movie is based on the true story of former airline pilot Barry Seal who clashed with cartels when he began smuggling drugs between the Americas in the 70s. The film reunites Cruise with his Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman.
Filming for Star Wars Episode VIII will be based at Pinewood Studios, according to an official announcement from George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer. The movie will be the third Star Wars film in a row to shoot at the London production facility.

Pinewood Studios near London is set to raise nearly GBP 30 million to part-fund its major expansion plan. The company will place eight million shares and create new bank facilities to fund the first part of the three-phase Pinewood Studios Development Framework (PSDF).
