The BBC has announced more than 50 hours of new filming productions to be presented through its Natural History and Science division. Projects include a follow-up to oceans documentary Blue Planet, and The Hunt, which will focus on the relationship between predator and prey.
New BBC crime drama By Any Means filmed largely on location in Birmingham in the West Midlands region of England, doubling the city for London. The drama was the first British show to qualify for the UK’s new TV tax credit when it started filming earlier this year.
The BBC has filmed parts of its new fantasy drama series Atlantis on location in Morocco. Filming took place at the Atlas Film Studios near the city of Ouarzazate in the centre of the country, which has previously hosted films including Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven.
New BBC miniseries From There To Here will star Philip Glenister and will film on location in and around Manchester in northern England. The story begins with the IRA bomb that struck the city in 1996, and spans four years through to the Millennium celebrations.
A new studio facility is being planned for development in the Titanic Quarter of Belfast in Northern Ireland. The urban-waterfront region already houses Titanic Studios, encompassing Paint Hall studio, which hosts HBO fantasy drama Game of Thrones.
The head of Northern Ireland Screen has predicted that regional spending from all filming productions will double over the next four years. Northern Ireland has benefitted from direct production spending of GBP121 million since 2009.

Set in 1919, the series charts a story of gang warfare in the city slums and the policeman charged with bringing order to the streets.
BBC Worldwide will be boosting its UK filming spend by 10% for the next 12 months, bringing the total to GBP200 million. Drama productions on the scale of The White Queen are likely to be among the type of projects to benefit from the budget hike.
