The BBC has reiterated plans to increase its Northern Ireland location filming in the coming years. In 2012 the corporation filmed just 1.3% of its overall content in the region - including crime drama Line of Duty - but it wants to more than double this figure by 2016.
Actor Michael Fassbender is filming new western Slow West on location in New Zealand, doubling the country for 19th Century Colorado. Shooting is taking place in the town of Twizel in the Canterbury region of New Zealand’s South Island.
Chris Hemsworth, star of new Marvel sequel Thor: The Dark World, has praised the UK’s location filming opportunities. The movie shot mostly at Shepperton Studios and on location in and around London, marking a production shift for Marvel.
Caroline Rowland set up her production company New Moon in 1996. Over the years the firm has supported bid campaigns for events like the London 2012 Olympics and the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, which have involved location filming around the world.
Long-running TV soap Emmerdale filmed at Pinewood Studios’ water tank facility near London for a dramatic storyline involving a character trapped in a flooding cellar. Filming for the Yorkshire-set show is normally based in Leeds in the north of England.
The Film London Production Finance Market (PFM) is gearing up for two days of events designed to connect producers and financiers from around the world. Held in association with the BFI London Film Festival, the market will run on 16 and 17 October.

A production deal has been agreed between the BBC and The Weinstein Company on a new TV production of the epic Tolstoy novel War and Peace. First published in 1869, the book is set in early 19th Century Russia but is likely to be filmed on location in the UK.
