After two days of networking, industry talks and panels, interviews and incredible parties, the first FOCUS has officially come to an end. We would like to extend our thanks to not only our exhibitors but to everyone in attendance at this year’s event, without whom FOCUS would not have been such a success.
Henrietta Street, located in the Irish capital of Dublin has been issued with a six month ban on filming after residents complained that an excessive amount of filming took place in November 2015. The street has become a popular filming location in recent years, having featured on high end television shows Penny Dreadful and Ripper Street.
The Conjuring 2, the sequel to 2013s hugely successful horror film The Conjuring has finished filming in the London borough of Enfield. Unlike its predecessor, The Conjuring 2 was filmed in both Los Angeles and Enfield while the first film was shot entirely on location in North Carolina.
An eight part drama series from Left Bank Pictures titled The Halcyon, has been commissioned for filming by ITV. The show is scheduled to film in London and surrounding areas from April 2016. Left Bank’s previous work with ITV includes the made-for-TV film about the life of comedian Tommy Cooper, Not Like That, Like This.
The second season of AMC’s popular spinoff series, Fear the Walking Dead has begun filming on location in Baja, Mexico. Production began December 3rd while its origin series, The Walking Dead has entered into its mid-season break and is set to return in 2016.
The Otago Southland Film Office which oversees productions in the southern half of New Zealand’s South Island, is currently being reviewed in an effort led by Queenstown Lakes Mayor District Council. The OS Film Office has been in operation for over ten years and this review will find out if changes need to be made to its infrastructure.
After filming on location at Skellig Michael in Ireland, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is expected to cause a surge in tourism to the area upon its December 17th release. The production filmed at Skellig Michael in July 2014, off the coast of County Kerry with cast members including Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley.
Production Company Velocity Films recently shot on location in Cape Town for a commercial for Carling Black Label. The commercial depicts a chase after a horse breaks free from a truck and goes running throughout the city streets of Cape Town, as a group of men try to stop the animal.
