Filming incentives have been in the spotlight again this week. There have been suggestions at the Abu Dhabi International Film Festival that a filming incentive scheme of some kind is in development for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Elsewhere, the Colombian President is trying to pass a scheme to help boost his country’s features industry.
Malta went through a thriving year of filming with June becoming the busiest month in the island’s history. Crews, suppliers and service providers were stretched beyond their limits as Paramount’s World War Z “clashed” on the tiny island with the long running UK TV series Sinbad, Norway’s large feature Kon Tiki, Sweden’s Volvo commercial and some other works.
Zombie thriller World War Z has had some problems importing guns into Budapest, its latest filming location, according to US Weekly. The production imported nearly 90 assault rifles, presumably for planned action scenes, but it turned out the weapons were capable of firing live ammunition.
Brad Pitt’s pan-European shoot for Marc Forster’s zombie thriller World War Z will arrive in the south London borough of Southwark in the next few weeks. Shooting will take place on the Heygate Estate, although it’s not been confirmed whether the scenes are set in London or elsewhere.
Filmmakers can get terror insurance in a bid to encourage them to film on location in Israel, according to the Associated Press. Israeli authorities are trying to open up the country’s screen industries so the policy provides coverage against terror attacks and acts of war disrupting filming.

For season two it’s keeping Northern Ireland as its production base, but Croatia will be replacing Malta.
Brad Pitt’s zombie thriller World War Z will be casting for extras this weekend for a shoot in Falmouth, Cornwall, south-west England. The story is set in Philadelphia, but Glasgow will be doubling for the Pennsylvania city in August and filming has already taken place in Malta.
