Productions from around the world are clearly finding Australia an appealing prospect, as foreign projects have delivered AUD170 million to the Australian economy in 2009/10. Seven overseas productions – two features and five TV programmes – chose to film Down Under in 2009/10.
Screen Australia has revised its co-production guidelines to make it easier for projects to access financing and incentives. The changes involve including Australian personnel in the points scheme from production jobs that were not awarded anything previously.

A new TV series produced by Steven Spielberg will be filmed mostly in Queensland, Australia, at the Warner Roadshow Studios. The 13-part time-travel disaster drama Terra Nova will inject a significant proportion of its USD150 million budget into the local economy. In addition, the vast majority of the cast and crew will be locally hired.
Steven Spielberg’s new film, an adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s novel War Horse, will shoot partly on Dartmoor and, according to USA Today, filming starts next week.
