Television drama pilot Point of Honor will film on location in Virginia in the eastern US. Telling a story of family drama in the 1860s during the American Civil War, the production is the second period piece to come to Virginia in recent years following Revolutionary War spy drama Turn.
The long-running US crime drama NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) starts filming its spinoff series NCIS: New Orleans on location in Louisiana this week. Special episodes were shot in New Orleans earlier this year as a pilot of sorts, but much of the studio work was filmed in California.
The BBC’s adaptation of JK Rowling’s 2012 novel The Casual Vacancy starts filming today on location in Stroud, near Bristol in south-west England. Produced by Bronte Film and Television and in association with HBO, the story traces tensions in a fictional market village in rural England.

Legal drama Reckless has become the first major network TV series to film on location in Charleston, South Carolina. The CBS drama spent six months shooting in the city, paying USD6.5 million in local wages alone.
New drama The Leftovers filmed on location in Mount Vernon, in northern New York City. The series follows the lives of a disparate group of individuals in the fictional town of Mapleton in the aftermath of a mysterious event that sees two percent of the world’s population vanish without trace.
Fantasy drama The Games Maker filmed on location in Buenos Aires as an co-production between Argentina, Canada and Italy. Based on a novel by Argentine writer Pablo de Santis, the film tells the story of a boy whose love of board games pits him against an evil inventor in a fantastical city.
World War I television miniseries Deadline Gallipoli has started filming on location in South Australia using Adelaide Studios as a base. Australia previously hosted American World War II drama miniseries The Pacific, which filmed largely in Queensland.
