A television adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist will film on location in Nova Scotia. To accommodate for a large scale production spend, estimated to be USD22.8 million, the NS Film Fund has been permitted a monetary increase of USD6 million to cover a tax rebate of USD5.9 million.
A new piece of legislation could have major implications for New York’s film incentive programme, asking that USD5 million of the fund’s overall USD420 million be allocated specifically to projects that employ women and minorities in lead writing and directing roles.

As part of a press conference held at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, several Thai officials unveiled a brand new incentive programme to attract foreign productions and boost the country’s film industry. Tom Hanks’ latest film, A Hologram for the King was shot on location in Morocco to recreate Saudi Arabia. Based on David Eggers’ novel of the same name, the film depicts unsuccessful businessman Alan Clay who travels to Saudi Arabia in an attempt to sell holographic conference technology to the King.
The film reboot of the popular 1990s children’s television show, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers has begun shooting on location in Vancouver, Canada. Directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac), Power Rangers will feature a relatively unknown main cast aside from Elizabeth Banks who will portray the recognisable villain, Rita Repulsa.
