The long-running US crime drama NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) starts filming its spinoff series NCIS: New Orleans on location in Louisiana this week. Special episodes were shot in New Orleans earlier this year as a pilot of sorts, but much of the studio work was filmed in California.
Upcoming crime drama Backstrom filmed in Vancouver, doubling the city for Portland, Oregon. The show features US comedy star Rainn Wilson in his first dramatic role as a disgruntled detective in the vein of Gregory House. It’s based on a Swedish book series by writer Leif GW Persson.
Sci-fi sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes followed the example of its 2011 predecessor Rise of the Planet of the Apes by filming mainly in Louisiana and Vancouver. The producers used generous filming incentive deals to create the movie’s dystopian San Francisco setting.
